You may not remember me, but I remember you

Working in the operating room environment is hugely rewarding. Due to anxiety and preoperative medications, patients don't often remember the nurses who care for them throughout their procedure.

These are some of the aspects that we focus on to ensure that you, as a patient, are safe: we advocate on your behalf when you are most vulnerable, we prevent infection by ensuring items are sterile, provide a safe environment with all the required equipment, we ensure you are positioned correctly to prevent pressure areas or nerve damage.

We are part of the interprofessional team who collaborate effectively to ensure that your surgery is completed safely.

We ensure that your privacy is maintained and that you are kept warm, we assess and minimise your pain levels as you awake from your procedure, we monitor you to be aware of your progress or deterioration.

All of these aspects happen during your surgical experience and much of it you will be unaware of.

Ensuring your well-being throughout your perioperative experience is our utmost priority and you couldn't be in better hands.
